About the event

The Unscene South

Charles Eady Revisits History

South Carolia born, Ocala based artist Charles Eady paints large compelling free Blacks in the South before 1865, an overlooked, even unknown population.

Oversized figures gaze out resolutely from Eady's gorgeous portraits. There is an acclaimed Black jockey, one of the pioneers of the sport in the U.S., as well as a Black tradesman who, as is explained, "learned a skilled trade and became successful as a result."

EXHIBIT is FREE and OPEN to the public.
