About the event
In Celebration of Black Music Month, the CCMCC will show a British production of "Porgy & Bess", the opera composed by George Gershwin. It tells the story of Porgy, a disabled black street beggar living in the slums of Charleston. It deals with his attempts to rescue Bess from the clutches of Crown, her violent and passionate lover, and Sportin' Life, her drug dealer. The film will be followed by a short discussion.
